Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) is one of the largest governmental education providers of technical, vocational and professional education in Auckland. Since 1970 it has been working on research programmes together with other organisations, including other tertiary institutions, businesses and practitioners in the field. Every year more than 14 000 students choose MIT as a place to study for a variety of qualifications in business, digital technologies, tourism and hospitality, sport, human health, engineering and logistics. MIT's graduates are well-supported to find a job in relevant work areas.
MIT has five campuses with study facilities located right in the heart of the industry for the skills and contacts that students need. Campuses are fully-equipped and provide libraries, computer labs, media, hardware and network labs, project spaces, a simulated office environment, engine room simulators and even a specialised training restaurant. Just off the campuses, there are cafes, shops, recreation centres, parking and major public transport links.
The institute offers more than 200 programmes across 17 schools, attracting students with different interests and talents from all over the world. There is something for everyone - from entry-level certificates to diplomas, degrees and graduate diplomas. Industry experienced tutors equip students with capabilities and the right attitudes to undertake a range of work roles within related industries and profession. Students are well-supported throughout their study journey and, with many classes being small, everyone gets individual attention from instructors, administrative staff and counsellors. As a result, students gain useful practical skills for employment or establishing their own businesses.
Manukau Institute of Technology is one of New Zealand institutes that is recognized globally as having first-rate facilities, technologies and teaching approaches.
