Since its inception in 1991, Alberta Ballet School is one of the leading dance schools in Canada. It is a private school that delivers on-site, traditional classroom programmes. Ashley McNeil is an artistic principal of the school, and every year the school opens for more than 1000 local and international students.

The school offers many different options for students of all ages and levels from preschool to professional, such as sessional, full-year, and summer programmes. There are various ways of dance: ballet, jazz, contemporary and modern dance at professionals or open divisions. Students learn in a warm and positive environment under high-quality acclaimed academic staff, and at the same time, students have practice with the ballet's artistic staff. Every year the school organizes Alberta Ballet productions where students have avenues to dance in.

Alberta Ballet School underpins its principles by providing such values as professional, disciplined, fun & creative, quality, care & compassion, and inspire a love of dance.

The school operates in Calgary and Edmonton studios. Calgary's studio is situated in downtown Calgary and comprises six large studios, six classrooms that span over 30,000 square feet. Apart from that, Calgary's studio encompasses a costume department, on-site physiotherapy room, change rooms, a retail store with dance supplies, administration offices, and an outdoor annex. This location is under security 24/7 and has access only for students, parents, faculty, and approved guests. International students can live in School's Residents located on Mount Royal University campus only 15 minutes from the school. Programmes run six days a week.

The school has Edmonton's studio located in the Ruth Carse Centre for Dance. Many diverse recreational and professional dance companies that found there inspire students to achieve higher results. Ruth Care incorporates families' large dance studios, free parking, and a lounge. The school provides programming six days a week.
