Programme overview

Learn the practical skills you need to get a job as an engineering officer on board a ship. You could find work on a cruise liner, ferry, container ship or support vessels in the oil and gas industry. Completing this programme and the required sea-time is a pre-requisite to obtaining the Maritime New Zealand certificate of competency, the required training leads to the Marine Engineer Class 3 (MEC 3). This certificate means you can work as an engineering officer on vessels anywhere in the world.
