Programme overview

Interaction between people from diverse cultural backgrounds has never been greater than in today’s interconnected and globalised world. The Diploma in Global Cultures prepares students for the pressing need to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for intercultural communicative competence and responsible, global citizenship.

This programme is a separate qualification normally completed alongside a degree programme. It offers a wide range of project-focused interdisciplinary courses that develop global perspectives and cross-cultural communication skills. Because of its focus on fostering global citizenship, the Diploma is particularly suitable to complement majors and minors in Languages and Cultures, Philosophy, the Arts, Environmental Science, Law, Religion, Film and Media, History, Māori and Pacifica Studies, Gender and Social work, Geography, Food Science, Science Communication, Politics, Tourism, Commerce and other areas.
